I am not a professional splicer by any stretch of the imagination. I have, however, been splicing ropes for many years as needed for my personal use. It was when learning to splice braided line that I turned to a Marlow video that I learned about splicing tape. I found it a must for braided line and also that it made a huge difference when splicing nylon twisted rope. My first roll of this tape has lasted many years but I saw this advertisement and immediately ordered a replacement roll. The first roll cost a lot with shipping from Europe. This roll is a bargain.
I wouldn’t consider doing any splicing these days without having this special tape available. It really makes this work a lot easier.

This bag exceeded my expectations by a mile. I was going to have a bad made from one of my old sails and instead found this one for sale. The sail material is perfect, and the quality of the design and stitching is way better than what I would have had made.This is a super cool sailing gear bag for a very reasonable price.

The Johnson Hand Crimp Tool and Hand Crimp Fittings are a great alternative to machine crimping if you only have a small number of crimps or repairs to do. It probably takes about 10 minutes do each crimp. The crimp has to be fairly tight so it is best done with a 13mm six point 1/2" drive socket wrench.
This step seems to be of good quality. I have not installed it yet.

I had required a strong, sharp blade on knife part and a strong, durable fid. Both needs achieved. The design of the tool, its weight, its beautiful curved look and feel proved above expectations. Not solely a sailing tool, an art object, a keeper.
