STS - Stronger Than Steel™ - HSR
Single Braid Heat-Treated Dyneema® SK-75
New England Ropes has developed an entirely new technology. Its name, STS™, stands for "stronger than steel." Stretching under heat is used to match fiber lengths within the cross section with one another. This causes the load on the rope to be distributed evenly to several load-carrying elements. As a result, the breaking force can be increased significantly. In addition, construction-dependent elongation is reduced to a minimum. The rope's cross section becomes more compact, resulting in an extremely robust rope that has a closed structure. This increases the rope's overall service life, even without a cover.
On a microscopic level, the STS process straightens molecular chains for higher specific tensile properties, thus ensuring great load-bearing capacity. The process increases the rope's breaking strength with increased temperature and tension and achieves a uniform fiber distribution.
Advantages:
- Very high breaking force paired with a small diameter
- Low constructional elongation
- Long service life due to closed rope structure, even without a cover
- Stable rope cross section
- Up to 28% higher breaking force than conventional rope
- Reduction of construction elongation between 90% to 100% vs. conventional rope
