This single control-button digital switch pairs with the Harken electric UniPower single-speed sailboat winch popular with cruisers.
The switch cover rotates to expose the activation button. Rotating to OFF conceals the control functions and protects against accidental activation.
Harken Digital System Switches resist impact, wear, and abrasion.
The switch is available in black polyamide resin or stainless steel.
Integrated lighting provides low-light visibility.
A unique adhesive mounting system is available for installations where drilling is undesirable.
Harken Digital Switches in dual and single-function models set the standard for the reliable operation of electrically-powered yacht systems.
To accomplish this, two safeguards have been built into the systems:
- The waterproof control button translates electrical information into a binary code that won’t allow the system to start without the signals being verified by the separate decoder module (sold separately; see #DS-DECODER). In contrast, an analog switch sends continuous electrical information directly to the powered device, which means damage to the wiring or water ingress could result in unintended activation
- Underneath the control button, two command switches must work in unison before a signal is sent
- Switches resist impact, wear, and abrasion
- The switch's watertight seals are never exposed, even with the rotating cover in the "ON" position, eliminating seal damage caused by sun or prolonged use
- To make use easy at night, the control buttons feature high-contrast symbols and are backlit for around-the-clock visibility
- Switches can be mounted horizontally or vertically
- Easy to install - the switch is either fastener or adhesive mounted and requires only a small hole for the wires; the decoder box (sold separately) is adhesive-backed and has color-coded wires for straightforward connections
